International Relations

international relationsThe history of the School of Dental Medicine’s international relations began in 1986 with a partnership agreement with China’s Capital Medical University and active relations between the world-class dental practitioners and internationally viable faculty members associated with the Capital Medical University and our school continue to the present.

In 1987 an agreement was made with Dankook University in Korea to promote academic exchange of students and faculty as well as research collaboration.
The list of partnership kept growing with the following agreements with Thammasat University in Thailand (1996), the University of Peradeniya in SriLanka (2000), the Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of London in UK (2000), Texas A&M Health Science Center in USA (2002), and the University of Bern in Switzerland (2004). Under the partnerships with those institutions there have been active exchanges of students and researchers as well as joint ventures in investigation. Meanwhile, strong international relations are being affirmed on the campus of Tsurumi University School of Dental Medicine which hosts many researchers and exchange students from those partner institutions studying under dentistry department fellowships.
Luncheons and academic exchange seminars are sponsored by the International Relations Committee to promote friendship between the faculty and students.
We intend to continue implementing projects beneficial to faculty members and students who will have significant roles in the increasingly international world.

The School of Literature entered into an international partnership with Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in Korea in the spring of 2007. Two to three students of HUFS spend a semester at Tsurumi University every year, and the first Tsurumi student began participating in the Korean language program at KUFS in the spring of 2009. In December, 2008, another important international partnership was established with the University of Regina in Saskatchewan, Canada. Tsurumi University and University of Regina agreed on developing effective ESL program for Tsurumi students as well as mutually hosting student study tours. We hope to expand international exchange programs with those institutions while developing partnership with other institutions around the world. We recognize that international partnerships are vital for the future development of Tsurumi University to play responsible roles in the globalized world environment.
